MGB-10 Pioneers in the Establishment of Social Development Council

In the process of evaluation of the proposed social development projects/programs/activities for the 5-year and Annual SDMP documents, a third party composed of various stakeholders and partners in implementing the SDMP projects were created and operationalized.  This executive body is known as ComRel Committee for HPMC-Lugait and Social Development Council for PGMC-Manticao, PGM-MCCI, Buru-un and ICC/MPCC.  HPMC’s ComRel Committee was formally created on July 12, 2007 at Malberry Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City while ICC/MPCC was reorganized and operationalized on June 13, 2008 , PGMC-Manticao was organized on April 25, 2008 and PGMC-MCCI, Buru-un on May 23,2008. The SDC is an oversight committee and task to review, evaluate, deliberate, scrutinize and recommends approval of the 5-year SDMP and ASDMP documents of mining companies of the MGB-10.  Currently, establishment of the Social Development and Management Program Committee (SDMPC) is being encouraged by MGB Central Office during the SHES forum on June3-6, 2008.

PGMC-Manticao produce 81 Welders through SDMP

Platinum Group Metals Corporation – Manticao in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Manticao, Barangay Punta Silum, Manticao and TESDA, implemented Skills Training on Welding for two months for 81 out-of-school Youths of Barangays Punta Silum, Poblacion and Patag, Manticao Misamis Oriental.  Out of 81, graduates 5 are females.  The company through their SDMP allocated Php 46,000.

Iligan Cement Corporation Turn-over “Sibol Day Care Center” to GK Community

Sibol Day Care Center is a one of the many infrastructure projects under the Unified SDMP of Iligan Cement Coporation and Mindanao Portland Corporation for Barangay Dalipuga, Iligan City.  The turn-over ceremony on June 25, 2008 was attended by ICC top officials and partners from Iligan City LGU, Barangay Officials, Gawad Kalinga, MGB-10, and the community.  The highlight of the activity was the commitment of Sr. Ma. Yolanda C. Reyes, RVM, President, St Michaels College, to provide a teacher for the center.

Holcim SDMP Builds Chapels for the Mining Communities

A total of 4 chapels were build and rehabilitated by Holcim Philippines Manufacturing Corporation for the last five years.  These are located in Barangay Lower Talacogon, Lugait Misamis Oriental and  Barangay Dalipuga, Iligan City.  Total fund allocation from SDMP fund for these infrastructure projects was PHP 884,647.00.
