MGB-10 Pioneers in the Establishment of Social Development Council

In the process of evaluation of the proposed social development projects/programs/activities for the 5-year and Annual SDMP documents, a third party composed of various stakeholders and partners in implementing the SDMP projects were created and operationalized.  This executive body is known as ComRel Committee for HPMC-Lugait and Social Development Council for PGMC-Manticao, PGM-MCCI, Buru-un and ICC/MPCC.  HPMC’s ComRel Committee was formally created on July 12, 2007 at Malberry Hotel, Cagayan de Oro City while ICC/MPCC was reorganized and operationalized on June 13, 2008 , PGMC-Manticao was organized on April 25, 2008 and PGMC-MCCI, Buru-un on May 23,2008. The SDC is an oversight committee and task to review, evaluate, deliberate, scrutinize and recommends approval of the 5-year SDMP and ASDMP documents of mining companies of the MGB-10.  Currently, establishment of the Social Development and Management Program Committee (SDMPC) is being encouraged by MGB Central Office during the SHES forum on June3-6, 2008.

Specifically, the roles of the aforesaid committee are the following:

  1. Composed of the MGB Regional Director, the respective BSDAC Chairpersons, representatives of the Company, Line Government Agencies and representative(s) of Non-Government / People’s Organizations;
  2. Meets quarterly to assess performance of previous quarter program implementation;
  3. Issue endorsement of Project Proposals for implementation;
  4. Discuss on and come up with resolutions pertaining to SDMP issues, concerns and problems;
  5. Assist the BSDACs in meeting SDMP proposal and implementation requirements;
  6. Recommend to proper offices necessary policies and program directions to support project implementation;
