Regional Director Rex S. Monsanto stressing some points during the open Forum to the 80 quarry or sand and gravel permittees/applicants

It has been observed that the issuance of Certificate of Environmental Management and Community Relations Record (CEMCRR) to quarry or sand and gravel permit applicants by MGB-10 is experiencing delay because of adverse findings during field verification and/or because of noncompliance by the applicants with applicable existing mining and environmental laws, rules and regulations.

Relative to this and in line with DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu’s thrust to strictly enforce the Philippine Mining Act of1995 (and its Implementing Rules and Regulations) and to implement Responsible Mining, MGB-10 conducted an Orientation/Seminar on the process Flow on the Issuance of CEMCRR, Environmental Protection and Enhancement Program, Work Program, and Comprehensive Validated and Technical Report on June 19, 2017 held at the MGB-10 Conference Room. The activity was attended by 80 quarry or sand and gravel permit applicants from Bukidnon Province.

Ms. Cecille M.Egnar, OIC, BENRO, Malaybalay City and some staff also attended the Activity.

Apart from the lectures/presentations on the topics of the process flow on the issuance of CEMCRR, and on the evaluation of the Environental Protection and Enhancement Program and Work Porgram, relevant issues and concerns were also addressed during the open forum.

Participants were given an  IEC Material on Correcting Misconceptions About Mining.
