Aptly said by an anonymous author which describes the quest of the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X to become an ISO 9001:2015 certified regional office.

Exactly forty-one (41) days from receiving the first nod of NQA Philippines, Inc., the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X again was rewarded with a thumb up for the efforts exerted to becoming a BS EN ISO 9001:2015 Certified Regional Office. With only Observation for Improvements (OFIs), no minor nor major non-conformance, the Regional Office is anticipating for its ISO 9001:2015 (QMS) UKAS Accreditation. Continue reading »

“Kulturang Pinoy… Kulturang MGB 119 Taon Kapit-bisig Tungo sa Responsableng Pagmimina” banners this year’s founding anniversary of the Bureau.

Dating back during the Spanish regime, the Bureau was then known as the Inspeccion General de Minas, in-charge of the administration and disposition of minerals and mineral lands in the country. Since then, it has gone thru various reorganization with name changes from Departamento de Fomento or Department of Public Welfare under the Philippine Revolutionary Republic to Bureau of Mines during the Philippine Commonwealth and then again renamed as Bureau of Mines and Geosciences further making it more responsive to its varied functions. Participants include quarry Operators, sand and gravel permit holders, Representatives from the Environmental and Natural Resources Office (ENRO) of Misamis Oriental and Misamis Occidental, Bukidnon Environmental and Natural Resources Office (BENRO), Bukidnon, Cagayan de Oro City Local Environment and Natural Resources Office (CLENRO), City Environmental Management Office (CEMO), Iligan City, Local Government of Camiguin, PENRO of Misamis Oriental, CENROS of Initao, Ozamis and Oroquieta Cities and one Non-Government Organization representative from SULOG based in Cagayan de Oro City. The journey towards an ISO 9001:2015 certification reaches one of the summits as the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X passed the First Stage of the third-party audit conducted last October 25, 2017. Continue reading »

RD Rex S. Monsanto administered the swearing in to office of newly promoted personnel, from left: Ms. Mercedes T. Cuerquis, Administrative Officer III (Cashier); Engr. Janice B. Furog, Engineer III; Ms. Lea Therese N. Bondad, Supervising Geologist; Ms. Daphne Niccole G. Galero, Supervising Geologist; and Engr. Gaudencio L. Paulma, Jr., Engineer IV.

After passing through a deep selection process, four (4) MGB-X personnel finally rose from the ranks and received the promotion they so anticipated. Ms. Lea Therese N. Bondad and Ms. Daphne Niccole G. Galero were promoted to the position of Supervising Geologist complementing the supervisory personnel in the Geosciences Division. Engr. Janice B. Furog was elevated to the position of Engineer III while Ms. Mercedes T. Cuerquis got the Administrative Officer III post which she has been designated in an acting capacity as Cashier. Members of the Mindanao Association of Mining Engineers, Inc. converged along with geoscientists, environmentalists, academe, policy makers, community and other stakeholders in Davao City during the 24th Annual Mining Symposium and Exhibits held at the SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier on June 22-24, 2017.

This year’s’ Symposium which is anchored on the theme ‘”Equitable, Responsible Utilization of Mineral Resources under a Federal Republic State” with emphasis on Responsible Mining has lined up activities patterned for a three-day event.

MAEM President, Engr. Alexis M. Baligod stated that the government is enhancing the path of sustainable  peace and a protected environment defined  in this year’s symposium of the topics to be presented,  bringing  the benefits of a strong mining industry for every Filipino under a Federal State of governance. The Grand Entrance of the League of Corporate Foundations, Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) EXPO with the theme “Disrupting for Social Good “at the Glorietta 2 Palm Drive Activity Center and Glorietta 3 Activity Center, Makati City.

MGB-X Information officer ll, Cecilia C. Tan and Community Affairs Officer ll Virginia R. Verdejo along with representatives from Holcim Resources Development Corporation and Republic Cement Iligan, Inc. attended the League of Corporate Foundations, Corporate Social Responsibility EXPO on July 19-20, 2017.  On the first day was an EXPO Conference to pump up the 2-day activity held at the Mayuree Grand Ballroom, Dusit Thani Manila Hotel, Makati City.

The second day was the CSR EXPO showcasing the successful social development programs and services implemented by giant corporate companies under the League of Corporate Foundations for their identified beneficiaries. Continue reading »
