Pursuant to Sec. 8 of Presidential Decree No. 1566 and as an extremely important part in disaster preparedness plan, the Mines and Geosciences Bureau Regional Office No. X conducted an earthquake drill and exercise on February 21, 2019.

The primary objective of the drill is to practice timely and appropriate response when an actual earthquake will occur.

At the sound of the alarm, all personnel executed the “duck, cover, and hold” position. As soon as the alarm went off, purposely they all went outside in rows to the designated safe area bringing with them medicine kits and other disaster ready tools. The drill coordinator then performed a head count vis-à-vis attendance of the day to make sure that nobody is trapped or have been left behind.

Earthquake drills and exercises will be conducted quarterly as the law prescribes.

Representatives of MGB Regional Office No. X, together with DENR, city and barangay officials, joined in the clean-up activity at Bitan-ag Creek on February 16, 2019 in Brgy. Lapasan, Cagayan de Oro City. Truckloads of trashes were collected on that day.

DENR-MGB-X Chief Geologist Osin Sinsuat, Jr. gave a presentation on the understanding of the rain-induced landslide and flood susceptibility maps during the DENR-X Regional Management Conference held at the DENR-X Conference Room on January 14, 2019.  The participants included regional and field officials led by DENR-X Regional Executive Director Arleigh Adorable

and DENR-MGB-X Regional Director Rex Monsanto.  This was followed by a presentation on the downloading of the 1:10,000 scale rain-induced landslide and flood susceptibility maps by IT Specialist Ramon Hong, Jr.

The PENROs and the CENROs in Region-X have earlier been provided copies of the DENR-MGB-X rain-induced landslide and flood susceptible maps of their respective areas of jurisdiction.
