The landslide started on about September 1, 2010.  It was noted that it did not rain heavily the past two days.  The movement started from uphill of Bagtukon Creek.  The landslide materials were deposited on the creek bed, carrying with it uprooted trees (hardwood/forest and coconut trees) and soil materials.
The volume of the materials deposited is estimated at about 10,000 cu.m.
There is a farmhouse immediately adjacent to the creek.  Coconut trees in the immediate vicinity uphill of the farmhouse were observed to exhibit creeping movement.  The inclined trees are indicative of potential mass movement.
Going downslope, Bagtukon Creek meets Malasag Creek before reaching the culvert, which then drains its load towards Biga-an River. Continue reading »
